Thapelo Maseko has shared a heartfelt farewell message with Mamelodi Sundowns and the club’s supporters after completing his move to Danish giants FC Copenhagen.

Maseko, 22, joined Copenhagen – the former club of Sibusiso Zuma – in a deal worth €1.5 million after not appearing in Sundowns’ plans for the 2026/27 season.

He was already sent out on loan to AEL Limassol last campaign, reviving his career and jumping on Hugo Broos’ squad for the 2027 FIFA World Cup.

At the tournament, he made three appearances and scored the 1-0 winning goal over South Korea which sent Bafana into the knockout stages for the first time in history.

His exploits didn’t go unnoticed, with Copenhagen winning the race for his signature, with Maseko penning a four-year deal – he has now bid farewell to his former club.

“Thank you, Masandawana,” he wrote on social media.

“A chapter of my life I’ll never forget.

“Thank you Mamelodi Sundowns for the memories..the lessons..the opportunities and for giving me a place I could call home.

“To everyone who believed in me and supported me throughout this journey… I’ll forever be grateful.

“It’s time for a new chapter but the memories will stay with me forever.

“Thank you Masandawana.
