Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Stellenbosch playmaker Junior Mendieta has been approached by Saudi club Al-Faisaly.
The club, currently coached by former AmaZulu head coach Pablo Franco Martin has made a move for the Argentine after he was surprisingly released last week.
It appears the Greek Super League club Volos NPS has been going through some financial strain, leading to several first-team players securing mutual termination of their contracts.
The 31-year-old was one of the stars of the South African top-flight during his four years in the country and it comes as no surprise to see him on the radar of the Spaniard.
Sources have indicated that he’s en route to Saudi Arabia, with the club close to sealing a move for Mendieta, despite several offers coming his way since becoming a free agent.
