Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has explained what type of players they want to bring in – as he rejected a striker from Portugal yesterday.
Chiefs confirmed the return of Njabulo Blom on loan from Major League Soccer (MLS) St Louis City SC and Bradley Cross from Golden Arrows.
They join the likes of Bongani Sam, Inacio Miguel, Gaston Sirino, Fiacre Ntwari and Rushwin Dortley as the new signings at Amakhosi ahead of the new season and their new mentor says it’s a meticulous process to lure only the best to elevate the squad level.
“The others are still coming [transfers] it’s not easy to get top quality, it’s not easy, because all the clubs want, not only big, I think Kaizer Chiefs have big money, but the clubs need [the players], all the coaches needs his best players,” Nabi said.
“It’s difficult [the market], why? The level for players at Kaizer Chiefs, I want a high level, I don’t accept the [mediocre] player, for that, I take my time [to sign players], yesterday I refused one striker, he plays in Portugal but I refused him because he doesn’t have the level Kaizer Chiefs.
“The level I want and look for at Kaizer Chiefs, for that I take my time, and if we don’t have the opportunity [to get high-level players] I won’t take it, but I’m very happy for Njabulo [Blom signing], he’s part of the family.
“Bradley has the personality and quality, you need to use him correctly, I will continue with the committee and staff, to work hard, and the scouting team to look for the best players for the team.”
Chiefs open up their 2024/25 league season next week at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein against Marumo Gallants.
