New Pirates Signing Spotted At Medicals

New Orlando Pirates midfielder Abdoulaye Mariko was spotted during the club’s medical assessments.

The 23-year-old is the latest of the Buccaneers’ signings, even though he hasn’t been officially unveiled yet. He arrived in Johannesburg on Thursday after agreeing a two-year deal with an option to extend, as reported by iDiski Times.

Pirates fended off interest from several club’s in North Africa for the services of the defensive midfielder who played seven times in the CAF Champions League for the 24-time Malian Première Division champions, Djoliba.

Mariko becomes the fourth midfielder Pirates have signed in the current window after the acquisitions of Sipho Mbule, Sihle Nduli and Masindi Nemtajela.

He underwent routine medical examination with the club, who have included him in a video on their social channels despite Mariko yet to be announced.

Pirates’ official pre-season starts on Monday and they will return to Spain this month where they will face Bolton Wanderers, Pafos, Las Palmas and Granada in friendly fixtures.
