Cape Town City have confirmed the signing of Marcelo Suárez from Club Always Ready in Bolivia, as first reported by iDiski Times.
This publication reported on Friday morning that the Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit had snapped up the talented player who can play as a left centre-back and full-back.
He’s been capped 15 times by the senior national team and arrives with extensive club experience from the Copa Sudamericana and Copa Libertadores competitions.
City announced the capture of the 24-year-old on Friday afternoon.
“We are proud to announce the acquisition of Bolivian international defender Marcelo Suárez from Club Always Ready for an undisclosed fee.
“Welcome to the Citizens, Marcelo! 🔵

The club has parted ways with Sifiso Ngobeni and Njabulo Ngcobo in defence and Suárez is set to fill that void – and look to potentially establish himself in the club’s youthful set-up.
Jaedin Rhodes has already departed for a transfer to Austria with SV Ried after their failure to win promotion to the top-flight, while Gabriel Amato and Emile Witbooi are strongly being linked with exits.
