Wydad Athletic Club have confirmed the appointment of Rulani Mokwena as their new head coach.
Mokwena has agreed to join the Botola Pro giants after parting ways with Sundowns earlier this month, where he won the DStv Premiership and African Football League last season.
Ironically, they beat Wydad in the final of the inaugural competition and speculation had been rife that the club had been looking to lure him to the North.
Mokwena’s representative was said to have met the interim club President Hicham Ait Menna in Paris last week to discuss the vision of the club and personal terms, before agreeing to join his project as the club move on from the Said Naciri era, as reported by iDiski Times.
The former Sundowns boss received approaches from ASFAR, USM Alger and CR Belouizdad but was intent on the lure of the Botola Pro giants.
Mokwena has signed a two-year deal with the three-time African Champions while his technical staff will be confirmed imminently.
