Pirates GK Set For New Club

Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Sphamandla Gumede is likely to join ABC Motsepe League side Pele Pele FC.

Gumede spent last season on loan at Orbit College in the Motsepe Foundation Championship where he struggled to get game-time, which led to him not returning to the MFC side.

With Sipho Chaine and Melusi Buthelezi ahead of him in the pecking order at the club, Gumede’s chances of making it through to the team remain slim and he hasn’t been part of Pirates side for pre-season.

The former Dondol Stars goalkeeper is currently training with Pele Pele FC – the feeder team of Pirates who play their football in the South African third division.

Gumede won’t be new in the ABC Motsepe League, as he has played there before for Dondol Stars and led the side to winning the league title and qualifying for promotional playoffs, where they failed to gain promotion.
