SA Talent Secures Move To Serie A

Ayanda Sishuba has completed a move to Serie A side Hellas Verona from Ligue 1 side RC Lens oon a permanent basis.

Sishuba, 19, is the son of a former Bafana Bafana midfielder Asanda Sishuba, who played for various clubs in Belgium, including Royal Antwerp.

Ayanda was born in Belgium in 2005 and grew up there. Despite growing up in Belgium the 19-year-old spent all of his playing career in France, plying his trade for RC Lens at junior levels. He got promoted to the first team at the beginning of the 2023/24 season.

He made seven appearances in Ligue 1 for RC Lens, all from the bench and has now been seeking a move away from the club to secure more game-time. He was linked with few clubs in Belgium but was now snatched up by Hellas.

Hellas Verona confirmed the deal a few minutes before the transfer window shut on Friday night, but he is expected to miss this weekend’s encounter against Genoa.

The former RC Lens attacking midfielder is eligible to play for Bafana Bafana despite representing Belgium at the U19 UEFA European Championship qualifiers.
