Sam Breaks Silence On Chiefs Move

New Kaizer Chiefs left-back Bongani Sam has broken his silence on his move to Naturena.

The Gqeberha-born left-back joined Amakhosi on a three-year deal with an option to renew last month from rivals Orlando Pirates.

Sam spent the last campaign on loan at Moroka Swallows where he played 19 matches before returning to his mother club.

The 27-year-old is among a few players that have played for Chiefs and Pirates including the likes of Jimmy Tau, Lehlohonolo Majoro, Brilliant Khuzwayo, Pollen Ndlanya and Joseph Molangoane.

Sam, who was also part of Chiefs’ pre-season tour of Turkey, told to SuperSport TV that it’s an honour to have represented all the sides of Soweto and now wants to help Amakhosi return to their glory days following a nine season trophy drought.

“It’s an honour for me to be one of the players who played for all the teams in Soweto,” Sam told SuperSport TV.

“And I’m really happy and excited. I can’t wait for the season to start. It was not that difficult for because the environment that I’m coming from gave me the platform for it to be easy for me to adjust.

“I want to help the team go back to glory days. It’s not only me I’m sure the guys are also eager to do the same thing. I’m just fortunate to be part and parcel of the team that will take the team to where it belongs.”

Sam, though, picked up an injury in pre-season and had to leave the training camp in Turkey early.
