Stellenbosch FC have agreed personal terms with Ashley du Preez while Given Msimango looks set to follow in a swap deal involving Langelihle Phili.

Du Preez, 29, has agreed to sign a two-year deal with an option to extend, after a long-protracted transfer saga with Kaizer Chiefs and Stellies which involves Amakhosi’s pursuit of Phili.

SABC Sport reported on Wednesday that a deal has finally been struck with Phili with a club-to-club agreement and personal terms all but done.

iDiski Times understands Du Preez is now en route to Cape Town today, while Given Msimango is likely to also form part of the intricate deal.

Stellies have lost out on Thabo Moloisane, Athenkosi Mcaba and Henri Stanic and have been in dire need to bolster their options in defence going into the new campaign.

And with the option of Msimango now forthcoming, it appears head coach Gavin Hunt has landed another primary target for the upcoming season that kicks off this weekend.

Stellies open their season against AmaZulu on Saturday (15h00).
