Sundowns Make Decision On Rivaldo

Mamelodi Sundowns have exercised the option in midfielder Rivaldo Coetzee’s contract.

Coetzee, 27, has been with Sundowns for eight years after joining the side from Ajax Cape Town – now Cape Town Spurs – at a young age.

Coetzee was close to joining Scottish giants Celtic but failed a medical at the club before making the switch to Chloorkop.

Downs took the opportunity and signed Coetzee in August 2017 and since then he has made over 120 appearances for the Yellow Nation.

Overall, he has won 12 trophies, including seven league titles, two Nedbank Cups, one Telkom Knockout, one MTN8 title and the African Football League.

But the 27-year-old has continuously been struggling with injuries and that has led to him to feature in 29 of Sundowns’ 58 games this season across competitions.

There were rumors that he might leave Sundowns when his contract expires in end of June but iDiski Times understands that Sundowns have triggered the option in the contract of Coetzee, which will see the midfield maestro staying at Downs until at least June 2025.

He is currently one of the longest-serving players at Downs alongside the likes of Themba Zwane, Denis Onyango, Thapelo Morena and Mosa Lebusa.
