Sundowns Set To Sign Maseko As Margeman Returns To SSU

Mamelodi Sundowns have agreed to sign Thapelo Maseko from SuperSport United in a deal that will see Grant Margerman join Matsatsansa in a permanent switch.

Maseko, 20, has been a long-term target for Sundowns but they faced a fight to land his signature with strong interest from KVC Westerlo.

SuperSport made it clear the official offers from the Belgian top-flight club have not met their asking-price, which put Sundowns in pole position to secure his services.

iDiski Times have been informed from sources close to Matsantsansa that they’ve now agreed on a transfer fee, which includes Margerman returning to the club permanently.

While Sundowns were keen to hold onto the midfielder, who won the Players’ Player of the Season Award at their Tshwane rivals last season, he made it clear that at this stage of his career he wanted a move that will provide him with a key first-team role.

And after weeks of negotiations, the two clubs have finally reached an agreement, with minor details needed to be ironed out before the move becomes official.

Maseko, who scored four goals in 24 league games last season, will become Sundowns’ fourth off-season signing after Junior Mendieta, Lesiba Nku and Lucas Ribeiro Costa.
