Tinkler – Prins’ Injury Was A Big Loss

Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler is looking forward to having Prins Tjiueza available, and says the injury that delayed the Namibian international joining the team, was a big loss to the club.

Tinkler can’t wait to have Tjiueza available after an injury meant he couldn’t be available for the 2023/24 campaign, and says he was actually a big loss for the team.

The exciting 22-year-old had been announced by City on deadline day in January, but an injury at AFCON meant he would have to have surgery, so he was unable to join for 2023/24, but will be unleashed next season.

But he has been doing recovery in Cape Town since March, and at City’s DStv Premiership game against Richards Bay on Saturday, their last home match of the season, Tjiueza was paraded in front of City’s supporters.

“He came here, he spent two days with us, we liked a little bit what we saw in those two days, then he left to go to the Namibian national team,” Tinkler explained to iDiski Times.

“And, we liked what we saw during the AFCON and then he got injured. So he was a big loss because we were looking to count on him, especially in the second half of the season, and losing him was a major loss in my opinion.

“Yeah, but young – still a lot to learn, but has the right mentality, right attitude and I think he suits the way we want to play.”
