UEFA Pro Licensed Coach Open To PSL Adventure

Fabio Lopez, a highly experienced Italian coach, has expressed his interest in an adventure in the DStv Premiership.

Lopez, 51, was linked with a move to South Africa in 2019 after a stint with Al Ahli Jeddah’s academy system but went on to coach in Asia, leading to his appointment with the Laos and Bangladesh national team jobs.

But the Italian, who worked as a scout with Serie A clubs Atalanta and Fiorentina before acquiring his UEFA Pro License and moving into coaching, admits since his first links with the PSL, he started following the league closely and has been intrigued by its professionalism and standards.

“I’m in Johannesburg at the moment for a visit and some discussions with some clubs,” he told iDiski Times.

“I’m very attracted to the football in SA, I’m sure with high tactical knowledge, and training, the level of South African matches can be more interesting for local fans and international football viewers.”

Lopez, who is currently in Johannesburg on holiday, was previously a UEFA B coaching instructor for the Lithuanian Football Federation, where he started his senior coaching career with FK Banga Gargždai and FK Šiauliai.
