Zwane Wants Chiefs To ‘Punish’ Royal AM

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane says they want to punish Royal AM after being caught napping in their previous meeting at FNB Stadium.

Chiefs were embarrassed by John Maduka’s side in the 4-1 defeat back in September. A game that became infamous for owner Shauwn Mkhize and her son Andile Mpisane’s celebrations in the stands.

The Glamour Boys have since recovered from the defeat with a ten-game unbeaten run, albeit questions marks around two fixtures they failed to honour after a Covid-19 outbreak in the squad.

But Zwane, who has stood in for head coach Stuart Baxter during the quarantine period says they will not be caught with the same level of complacency this time around.

“In the first round, we were caught napping. We played against the name, forgetting we played against Bloemfontein Celtic. We played against Royal AM. Now, we can see what they can do,” he told the club’s website.

“We know them. They have been together for some time and they are a good team. They pose a danger to any team that campaigns in the PSL, because of that togetherness they have.

“They’re a hard-working team. They’ve got flair, they’ve got very good players, highly technical players. We’ve planned for them and hopefully, we will be able to execute that plan.”

Zwane claims they will ‘give them something to that about’ and feels they won’t be as expansive this time around at their own home ground, having been caught surprised by their attacking tactics previously.

“They are a team that attacks non-stop. We will find a way to manage them when they try to attack us. I don’t think this time around they will come out guns blazing,” Zwane continued.

“They will be a little bit cautious because we are also not just going to be sitting at the back and forming a block for them to attack us. We will take the game to them.

“Obviously, the best team will win. We will also have our ammunition and a way of using them to make sure we punish them. If we can get two or three goals, that will do for us, with the hope that we don’t concede.”
