Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has labelled Orlando Pirates midfielder, Thembinkosi Lorch a genius after his latest superb performance for the Buccaneers.
Lorch was influential as Pirates recorded their eighth win in 10 league games, a 2-0 victory over Chippa United in Gqeberha over the weekend.
The win saw Jose Riveiro’s side move to second on the DStv premiership log with 43 points, level with SuperSport United but ahead on goal difference.
Khanye reflected on the game and how Lorch was involved in both goals adding that the 29-year-old needs to work on his match fitness and show the game a bit of respect.
“Good combination play, good movement of the ball especially by Kabelo Dlamini. A good goal from him as well how he positioned himself well in the box, just good combination on that goal,” Khanye said on iDiski TV.
“Monnapule Saleng started the move, Lorch took the run and never stopped. Lorch then weighed the pass stretched the defence, then a good square pass and a good finish by a composed Kabelo Dlamini.
“Surely Orlando Pirates’ second goal came from one of the best individual runs. The timing of the pass I mean back paddling. It looked like Lorch was going to play it back, he is talented but he needs to fix some things. When I say fix some things I mean he needs to work on his fitness, match fitness
“He is a thinker for Orlando Pirates and another thing is that he is brave. He is a genius, the boy is talented, he knows football.
“It’s just that if you think you are bigger than football, it will return the favour. Truly speaking he was influential, today he was influential in terms of decision making, good composure – I mean scoring right between the goalkeeper’s legs and there was nothing he could do.”
