After two draws on the trot, Kaizer Chiefs Ladies returned to winning ways with a thumping 5-0 win over NWU Vaal in the Gauteng Sasol Womens League at North West Vaal Field on Saturday afternoon.
A solid first-half performance saw Amakhosazana take a two-goal advantage into the break with both goals coming in a space of seven minutes.
Unathi Mabena’s charges came into this tie after holding Wits University to a 0-0 stalemate in a hard-fought contest.
The Naturena-based outfit had also played to a draw before the Wits tie, settling for a 1-1 scoreline against Emmarentia Pirates.
A 7-0 hammering of Future Stars Ladies was the biggest win Mabena’s team recorded, and Saturday’s victory was another step in the right direction as they continue to build on momentum towards gaining promotion come season-end.
Amakhosazana took a 30th-minute lead before doubling the scoreline in the 37th minute to take a comfortable lead into the dressing room.
Chiefs picked up from where they left off, adding the third in the 54th minute as the floodgates opened.
Things went from bad to worse for the home side as Amakhosazana scored the fourth goal in the 61st minute before completing the rout by making it 5-0 in the 70th minute.
This was Chiefs Ladies’ second biggest victory of the season in what has been a dream debut campaign so far where they have lost just once.
Unathi Mjijwa was the hero of the afternoon as she netted a hat-trick while Sphiwe Dlamini and Lumka Qhekeka also added their names on the scoresheet.
