There were four Banyana Banyana players named in the CAF Women’s Best XI of the Year at the 2024 CAF Awards on Monday evening.
Mamelodi Sundowns and Banyana goalkeeper Andile Dlamini was selected in goal despite not winning the Goalkeeper of the Year award at the event.
Her club and national teammates Lebohang Ramalepe and Karabo Dhlamini were named at centre-back and left-back, respectively.
Finally, Racing Louisville winger Linda Motlhalo completed the South African contingent in the line-up in midfield, despite not enjoying much game-time at her club this season.
Two more spots are held by players from the COSAFA region in the line-up, with the 2024 CAF Women’s Player of the Year Barbara Banda of Orlando Pride and Zambia, and Lyonnais and Malawi’s attacker Thabitha Chawinga also making the illustrious XI, which is voted for by players from Africa.
