Kaizer Chiefs attacking midfielder Mfundo Vilakazi has discussed the maturity of his game under Fernando Da Cruz especially the showboating part saying the coach doesn’t really mind it.
Vilakazi, 20, has been praised for his entertaining flair but mostly criticised for the skill display especially in the previous season with some people claiming the show boating hasn’t helped Chiefs in attack.
Speaking ahead of the upcoming Betway Premiership Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates, the South African junior international said Da Cruz was aware of his style of play and though he cautioned about when to showboat, even he understands that the team has to benefit.
“When the coach arrived, he told me that he knows how I play,” said Vilakazi.
“But sometimes if it’s not necessary for me to do those things I shouldn’t. But he didn’t say that I shouldn’t ever do it. But even I have told myself that the team comes first.
“If the team is not getting results, I can’t be busy juggling the ball and all that, maybe when we do get results. But sometimes these things happen, you don’t plan it.”
