Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz has expressed his confidence in his team ahead of the upcoming Soweto Derby.
Amakhosi enter the game on the back of a 3-0 win in the Carling Knockout, which has given the club new energy after their elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup on penalties.
Da Cruz himself was back by Chiefs’ Sporting Director after a run of five draws and just one win in the Betway Premiership along with exits from the MTN8 and the CAF Confed Cup.
The Frenchman will experience his first Soweto Derby on Saturday, and says his team are ready for the game.
“It’s the most important game in South Africa. Sold out in six hours, one of the best games in Africa,” he said during the press conference.
“It divides the country. It’s a good moment for South African football.
“I’m good. We worked well this week with the team, we are confident. But we know it’s a difficult game against a good team, a big team.
“I have congratulate Abdes for the job since his arrival at Orlando Pirates. But we are ready for the game.”
Da Cruz further stated that his side are confident ahead of the clash against their in-form Soweto rivals after their 3-0 win over TS Galaxy.
“We come to the game with a lot of confidence – when you score three goals and don’t concede you’ve got a lot of confidence,” he added.
“But we always want to improve the team, even when we win. So we must keep this confidence when we go to the derby.”
