Young Kaizer Chiefs striker Wandile Duba has joined an illustrious list of the club’s legends after becoming their 24th player to score a hat-trick in a game for Amakhosi since 1996/97.
Duba netted all three goals as Chiefs powered past TS Galaxy 3-0 earlier in the week in the Carling Knockout Cup Last 16 Round.

The Glamour Boys thus booked a quarterfinal berth where they will face Siwelele FC for a spot in the semi-finals, on the weekend of 7 and 8 November.
The 22-year-old has now taken his tally for the 2026/27 campaign to an impressive six goals in seven outings across all competitions, making him the club’s top goalscorer this season.
Duba also became the first Chiefs marksman to net three strikes since Caleb-Bonfils Bimenyimana made history by becoming the first player in the PSL era to score a hat-trick of penalties in a 3-1 league win against Stellenbosch FC almost six years ago.
In the PSL era, the Mkhondo-born speedster was Chiefs’ 19th player to score a hat-trick in all competitions, and the first to find the back of net three times in the Carling Knockout Cup. Duba thus followed in the footsteps of Marks ‘Go-Man-Go’ Maponyane to score a hat-trick of goals in a knockout cup game with the latter doing so against Durban City in 1987.
The late Patrick ‘Ace’ Ntsoelengoe still holds the record for the most hat-tricks scored in the club’s history across all competitions with 14, according to the club’s verified historical records.
Whatever the future holds for the Chiefs academy graduate, he will beam with pride when the club’s hat-tricks heroes are mentioned, knowing his name will be in the conversation for years to come.
