Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando da Cruz says Elias Mokwana won’t be rushed into the set-up with the FIFA International break on the horizon.
Mokwana, 27, has joined the club he supported growing up, in a move that could have happened a couple of seasons ago before his surprise transfer to Esperance Sportive de Tunis.
He spent a season at the Tunisian giants, scoring seven goals with four assists in 38 games, before a season long loan to the Saudi Pro League with Al Hazem.
His time with Taraji ended with issues in the quota with foreign registrations, leading to a mutual termination and has since landed a move to Amakhosi – where he will don the number 14 shirt.
“Elias Mokwana is a very good plater, an experienced player with international experience, he has a lot of quality,” Da Cruz said.
“With no pre-season? Will be tough but in the upcoming FIFA break it will be the time to integrate him into the team, step by step.”
Chiefs are currently preparing for the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final against Siwelele that will take place on Sunday at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium (18h00).
