The General Secretary of the Ghanaian Football Association has labelled reports of a Ghana official visiting Senegal ahead of the Black Stars-Bafana Bafana clash as “fake news”.
Sunday World had reported that an unnamed “top GFA official” visited Senegal prior to the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
The report was somewhat echoed by the South African Football Association president Danny Jordaan, who had stated that “other people have come forward and added more information” after SAFA had lodged an official protest with FIFA.
However, the Ghana FA was once again quick to dismiss the rumours, with General secretary Prosper Harrison Addo responding on social media to the Sunday World story.
“Fake news,” he wrote.
“The person they are ta(l)king off [was not named in Sunday World report] has not been to Senegal since 2019.
“This is not part of their case to FIFA too. Changing their wolf stories each day.”
FIFA are yet to announce their verdict on the case, with the wait seemingly causing more tension between SAFA and their counterparts from Ghana.
