Stellenbosch head coach Steve Barker is excited about the prospects of the club’s new signing, Venezuelan Juan Carlos Ortiz.
The club announced the South American officially on Friday.
Barker, who is coaching the Coastal United team in this weekend’s DStv Compact Cup final against Warriors, is pleased to have Ortiz on board, and says the 28-year-old will make their attack even stronger.
“It is with great excitement and anticipation that we welcome Juan Ortiz to our club,” Barker told the club’s media department.
“Ortiz will add further attacking options to our squad.
“He has great qualities that will most definitely bring, both quality and depth to our attack. He is a goalscorer, with fantastic movement.
“He also has creative capabilities with calmness and composure in the final third.”
Ortiz, who has spent most of his career in South America is excited about this opportunity.
“I am delighted to join Stellenbosch FC,” Ortiz said.
“What attracted me to the club was its facilities and how well organized the team is run in every aspect.
“My teammates have received me well and I am looking forward to adapting to the style of play here so that I can start contributing as soon as possible.”
