Mamelodi Sundowns are said to be negotiating terms with Ethiopia sensation Abubeker Nassir after he impressed during his assessment.
The 21-year-old arrived at Chloorkop last week after competing at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations with his country and received widespread praise for his performances.
Despite several clubs expressing interest in his services, Nassir was said to be only interested in the chance to sign for Sundowns and agreed to a two-week assessment at Chloorkop.
After featuring in two friendly games, iDiski Times has been informed the club are keen on securing his services and started negotiations with the player at Melrose Arch in Sandton on Monday afternoon.
It’s been suggested that the player could return to his homeland with his current club Ethiopian Coffee S.C for the next six months, should the deal be completed.
However, another loan move remains a possibility, with Sundowns having no room to register him due to their five foreign quota spots being taken – the last of which will be Bolivia international Erwin Saavedra.
Nassir enjoyed a record-breaking season in the Ethiopian BetKing Premier League last season, scoring 29 goals in 23 league outings.
