Kaizer Chiefs Team Manager Bobby Motaung has revealed the “clear mandate” of new Amakhosi head coach Arthur Zwane.
‘10111’ was unveiled as new permanent coach of the Glamour Boys after initially replacing Stuart Baxter on an interim basis.
On Thursday, though, Chiefs started a new era after promoting a coach, who has come through the club’s own ranks, for a first time into he permanent role, where he will be assisted by Dillon Sheppard after signing a three-year contract.
Bobby Motaung confirmed that despite the duos lack of experience in the dugout the leadership
expects them to end the club’s trophy draught.
“Fortunately, Arthur and Dillon have been part of the process of what we’ve been trying to achieve,” he said during the media activities of Zwane’s unveiling.
“I mean, we lost out in the final of the [CAF] Champions League with them, we lost out in cups, the league, top eights and all that. So they know the challenge that we are facing.
“There is a drought in the cabinet. Supporters are looking forward to achieving something in terms of trophies, so it’s a continuation. They are coming into a system where they have been part of. And it’s about success, success, success – achieving and winning trophies.
“I think that’s why one of the reasons again was that [we said] let’s rather keep them and let them lead because they’ve raised their hands and they know the challenge we’re faced with in terms of trying to achieve.”

Motaung also made it clear that winning trophies plus changing the playing style back to a brand Amakhosi were known for in more successful days, is expected of the new coaches.
“So, they are coming in on a mandate that is clear that we need to win trophies, bring back the style of Chiefs, the playing style and make the supporters happy.
“It’s not about him [Zwane] alone. As a club, we want to win trophies as early as we start next season.
“We have a drought in our cabinet and we need to achieve. And we are investing into other aspects as well, getting them [Zwane and Sheppard] players they require, the technical support they would need to tinker systems, all those things you need in football today, technologies and we’re supporting them with and making sure the club gets back to winning ways.”
