Pitso Mosimane and Al Wahda picked up their first win in four games as they beat Kalba 2-1 in the UAE Pro League on Friday.
After a goalless first half, Mosimane’s team grabbed the lead almost directly after the break, as Syrian Omar Khribin was set up by Brazilian Alan to make it 1-0.
Matters looked to get worse for Kalba when in the 52nd minute they were reduced to ten men with Filip Kiss sent off, but despite being down to ten they continued pressing and were awarded a penalty just past the hour mark. But Daniel Bessa’s effort was saved by Mohamed Al Shamsi and Wahda held their lead.
But not for long, as Mehdi Ghayedi levelled matters in the 69th minute, scoring from a free kick.
But Wahda were awarded a spot kick in the 85th and Kalba were reduced to nine men, when Bessa was sent off with five minutes to go, for a handball in the box.
Cristian Guanca converted to put Wahda in front again and they were able to hold out for the win.
