Johnson Hails Chiefs Teen After Stunning First Goal

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson has hailed the potential of teenage forward Wandile Duba after he scored his first professional goal on his full debut.

Duba, 19, earned a start over Ashley du Preez, Jassond Gonazlez and Ranga Chivaviro in a front three alongside Pule Mmodi and Christian Saile.

And it took just 10 minutes for him to display his potential he’s shown at the DStv Diski Challenge level that earned him a place in the junior South Africa national team set-up.

Duba curled in a sumptuous effort that saw Golden Arrows goalkeeper Sifiso Mlungwana just stand and admire the strike into the top corner.

“To judge him on one game would be premature, but to judge him on the raining sessions, the mentality and the attitude he’s had at training then he probably has a long way to go with Kaizer Chiefs,”

“He just has to keep on cutting the cloths when he gets some, he will get some.

“If he stays humble than he’ll be a good striker.”

Duba will now be aiming to overcome the knock he suffered to be available for the Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates on Saturday afternoon at FNB Stadium.
