Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas has officially joined Sudanese giants Al-Merrikh SC.
Solinas, 56, recently parted ways with Saudi Arabian First Division side FC Al-Najmah after eight months in charge of the side.
His contract was no renewed after failing to finish in the playoffs spot, a season after he missed out on promotion with Al-Faisaly, when Pitso Mosimane brought Al Ahli back to the Saudi top flight.
The UEFA Pro Licence holder has now returned to the African continent and was unveiled by 19 times Sudanese Premier League champions, Al-Merrikh SC.

“Italian professor Giovanni Solinas is a technical director of the soldiers for the upcoming season, accompanied by his assistant staff and Abraham as a senior coach,” the club stated.
“Giovanni has undertaken a number of artistic missions within the jungles of the African continent, together we look forward to writing a new success story.
“Welcome to the Red Castle.”
Al-Merrikh will be the eighth African team that he will be coaching after stints in Algeria with ES Setif, CR Belouizdad, JSM Bejaia, MC Oran.
He also had a period is South Africa, when he took charge of Free State Stars and Kaizer Chiefs before going to Tunisia to coach CS Sfaxien.
