Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana defender Nkosinathi Sibisi says their win over CR Belouizdad in Algiers provides massive confidence for their upcoming challenges.
Pirates host Stellenbosch on Sunday at Orlando Stadium as they return to league action where they have started the season with a club record seven wins from seven games.
As they lead the table, ahead of reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns, Stellies provide a threat that saw them beat the Buccaneers three times in the 2023/24 campaign.
“For us it was a major confidence booster to get a victory away from home, playing in Africa is never easy, for us to get that kind of result, I think it speaks to the character of the whole group you know,” Sibisi said ahead of the game.
“We’re very positive and we’re looking forward to the game on Sunday [against Stellenbosch].”

With Sibisi a regular feature in the national team since Hugo Broos’ appointment nearly four years ago, he admits the experience he’s gained comes in handy as Pirates are now in the CAF Champions League group stage for the first time since 2018/19 season.
“It really helps [that I play for Bafana on the continent] I know what to expect, the environments, the hostility you know, you know you’re not home when you’re there and it’s about getting the job done and come back home,” he explained.
“You give advice [to the younger ones] on what to expect, but for them, it’s just to express themselves and for us to help them – you know whenever the chips are not going their way. So it’s just to help them be confident to do what they do best.”
Pirates host Steve Barker’s side who are fourth in the league at eSgodini on Sunday at 15h30.
