New Mamelodi Sundowns signing Nuno Santos says it was a debut of mixed feelings after losing 1-0 to Golden Arrows.
The 26-year-old Portugal midfielder was unveiled on deadline day, representing a major coup in a reported R20-million transfer from Vitória Guimarães SC.
And days later he already had his first taste of the Betway Premiership, coming on at half-time for Jayden Adams in the heart of the Sundowns midfield.
“Mixed feelings, because I wanted to start with a win, unfortunately we couldn’t do it, but at the same time… happy with my debut here, very proud of the team, we tried the 90 minutes to get three points, sadly we couldn’t do it, we will try again the next game,” Santos said.
“Very physical game, emotional game as well, quality as well, moments of the game, where the team played very well – and yeah very happy. I’m a guy that gives it all, always trying to assist my teammates – collectively. Always thinking about the team and not myself.
“I’m really happy to be here, I felt a huge support from the fans, obviously very difficult from Portugal, but very good at the same time, I want to thank the team for how they welcomed me, I feel very good here – I hope to give the team joy and to the fans.”
Katlego “Tsiki” Ntsabeleng and Bennet Mokoena also made their debuts from the bench on Heritage Day at the King Zwelithini Stadium.
