Orlando Pirates head coach says he’s not too fussed about the name-calling but more on delivering consistent results as he reiterated his praise for the club’s technical staff and management.
After losing the opening two league games of the season, Ouaddou had led Pirates to retain the MTN8 title, along with seven consecutive wins and seven clean sheets in the process.
From being dubbed not worthy to coach the club from sections of supporters, to fast-becoming a fan favourite, he understands the tide can turn as quickly as the turnaround in support has been.
“To be honest I’m not too focused about that [being called names] I even made a joke about that, I think the most important thing is to be consistent in how you think about your job, I’m coaching a fantastic club,” Ouaddou said.
“I have the opportunity to be surrounded by a lot of South African competent [staff] who are doing a very good job – so we’re just focused on giving happiness to our fans, try to give them the result, it’s what they expect, I’m here for that.
“I don’t have time to look at the social networks… everyday I wake up to give my best, do the best session for my players and have the best strategy to beat the opponent, it’s what I am doing everyday.”
With the Buccaneers historically struggling in the competition, he said the pressure to deliver the title is something to be positive about.
“I think there’s always pressure, in everything that you do, if you don’t feel that pressure, it means you don’t give sense in what you are doing, this pressure has to be positive,” he explained about the upcoming tournament.
“As long as you don’t have this pressure to do good and to do your best, I think you have to stop coaching, the pressure is always here but you need to transform it into positive pressure.”
Pirates open their campaign in the competition against Siwelele at Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon (15h00).
