City And Hunt Set To Part Ways

Durban City and head coach Gavin Hunt looks set to part ways via mutual agreement after just five months in charge.

Hunt, 61, was lured to City upon their promotion to the top-flight after winning the Motsepe Foundation Championship with Simo Dladla, who has since moved to AmaZulu as the assistant to Arthur Zwane.

City, formerly Maritzburg United, have enjoyed an impressive start to life in the top-flight – with five wins, four draws and five defeats, the latest the 2-0 loss to league leaders Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

And as they sit eighth in the standings, 11 points off the relegation zone occupied by Chippa United, the club are now looking to go into a new direction for the second half of the season.

iDiski Times have been informed the decision was made on Sunday, ahead of their final game on Wednesday, 3 December, against ORBIT College before the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations break.

Hunt has won four league titles in his career in the South African top-flight and has led Hellenic, Black Leopards, Moroka Swallows, SuperSport United, Bidvest Wits, Kaizer Chiefs, Chippa United and two separate stints with SuperSport United.
