Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lebogang Maboe was named Man of the Match in their latest win over Marumo Gallants, delivering a standout performance that impressed both fans and notably coach Cedric Kaze.
Maboe, 31, displayed a strong showing and it didn’t go unnoticed, with Kaze lavishing praise on the player’s intelligence, positioning, and attacking mindset.
Maboe’s performance was characterised by precise passing, intelligent movement, and creative attacking play—key factors that contributed to Chiefs’ control in the midfield in unfavourable conditions, which Kaze also noted during the post-match press conference.
“He’s a player with such a big football IQ, and that’s what we love about him. It’s a player that can find a solution,” Kaze said after the game.
The coach also emphasised Maboe’s versatility and forward-thinking play. “It’s a player that can always position himself very well and he’s a player that likes to play forward, and we need those kinds of players, with big experience. It’s very helpful for everyone.”
Maboe joined Chiefs in the off-season as a free agent after his exit from Mamelodi Sundowns and has since made seven appearances for the club.
