Khune – He’s Taken His Game To A New Level

Kaizer Chiefs legend Itumeleng Khune has hailed the incredible transformation of goalkeeper Brandon Petersen and his leadership qualities shining through this season.

Petersen, 31, has been among the shining lights of the Chiefs squad this season, with 15 clean sheets in 25 games across all competitions as they in contention for the league and one game from qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup knockout stages.

And Khune, their last goalkeeper who had the armband before Petersen, has now secured this season amidst his impressive form has earned lavish praise from the former Amakhosi stopper.

“Being a leader of the team comes with a huge responsibility and I’m happy that Brandon Petersen has taken his game to a whole different level, he’s been carrying the team and the players,” Khune said at the Carling Black Label sponsorship announcement.

“It shows with his performances, and I’m proud of him, I need to say he needs to keep up the good work. It’s very pleasing to see how the team has improved [defensively] under coach Kaze and Ben Youssef.

“I’m happy to see Brandon inspiring the team to keeping more clean sheets and obviously that wouldn’t be possible without his defence, so I’m happy to see the improvement in the team.”

Chiefs now turn their attention to Zamalek SC this weekend where they need to avoid defeat to secure a place in the quarterfinals of the continental competition.
