Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners has admitted how difficult it has been for him on the sidelines after returning to his goalscoring form.
The 30-year-old bagged his fourth goal in three league matches as Masandawana dispatched ORBIT College 2-0 at Olympia Park on Tuesday night and move up to the summit of the Betway Premiership.
Second half goals from the Bafana Bafana striker and Miguel Reisinho saw Sundowns move three points clear of second-placed Orlando Pirates who are in action on Wednesday evening against Richards Bay.
Not only did the former Stellenbosch FC marksman return to hitting the strides as per usual, but he has also worked his way back into Hugo Broos’ 38-man preliminary squad for the upcoming back-to-back 2026 FIFA World Cup friendlies against Panama later this month.
Speaking to SuperSport TV in his post-match interview, Rayners said he had to push himself at training in order to return to his old self.
“I think for me it was a bit difficult because I did not play in a long time,” he said.
“But everyday at training I was pushing myself and I know how to score goals.
“And help the team winning games.”
