The semi-finals of the CAF Champions League have been confirmed after both Egyptian giants were knocked out.
On Sunday, Mamelodi Sundowns booked their fourth successive semi-final and their sixth overall, despite losing 2-0 in Bamako to Stade Malien.
Sundowns’ strong first-leg display was enough for Miguel Cardoso’s men to book a 3-2 aggregate win to set up a semi-final with Esperance.
The Tunisian giants upset record champions champions Al Ahly on Saturday. Esperance beat the Egyptian 1-0 in the first leg at home, and then also won 3-2 in Cairo to secure a 4-2 aggregate win.
Meanwhile, defending champions Pyramids were knocked out by AS FAR. The first leg in Morocco had ended 1-1, but AS FAR beat the Egyptian side 2-1 on Saturday.
FAR will face RS Berkane in an all-Moroccan semi-final after they knocked Al-Hilal out on Sunday thanks to an injury-time goal in the 93rd minute to advance 2-1 on aggregate.
