Stellenbosch FC and Orlando Pirates have named their respective starting line-ups for this evening’s Betway Premiership clash at Athlone Stadium.
It’s been two weeks since Stellenbosch held Sundowns to a 1-1 draw, raising Pirates’ title hopes, and the Cape Winelands side will aim to cause another major disruption in Pirates’ quest for the league crown when the two sides face off.

At the very same time, Stellies aim for a top-eight finish as they are three points behind eighth-placed Lamontville Golden Arrows. The last home game for Stellies was a 3-1 win over Sekhukhune United and they will draw inspiration from that. Also, they haven’t lost a home league match under Gavin Hunt.
As for Pirates, it’s a matter of not making any mistakes tonight and getting maximum points as they are five points behind Sundowns. The Sea Robbers have five points out of a possible nine points in the last three matches.
A win for Pirates would see them cut the gap to two points with three games remaining plus goal difference favours them. Bucs last lost a league match in February when they lost 2-1 to Sundowns. Since then, they’ve gone nine matches without a defeat.
Cape Town is not a happy hunting ground for Pirates, but they have done well against Stellenbosch having won three times in the last eight meetings in Cape Town, while Stellies only won twice.
