Mamelodi Sundowns defender Divine Lunga has opened up on heading into the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League final first leg following a league heartbreak.

The Brazilians will host ASFAR Rabat on Sunday at Loftus Versfeld Stadium at 16:00, with the home side looking to bounce back after a midweek defeat.

Their Betway Premiership title hopes were further dented when they lost 3-2 to TS Galaxy on Tuesday, a result that could have dampened the spirit in the team.

However, Lunga says the league disappointment was dealt with right after the match against the Rockets, noting that the squad has moved on following a talk with the coach.

“Losing is part of football, but after the match the coach spoke to us to pick us up,” said Lunga.

“I think the guys are in the good mood cause you have to understand that in football you lose, draw and win. We will do our best.”

Lunga stated that they have come close to winning this competition a couple of times, but now it is high time succeed in it.

“We have been playing semis, the final and that has been pushing us to bring the trophy home,” he added.

“It’s been a decade and we need it this season, more than anything cause last season we were there. We will push ourselves, put our A game to try and win the match.”
