Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Petersen says he is going to keep doing his job and leave everything in God’s hands as far as being selected in the Bafana Bafana squad is concerned.

Petersen’s comments come after another one of his Man of the Match winning displays, after helping Chiefs defeat AmaZulu 1-0 in their penultimate match of the season in Durban on Saturday.

The result also meant he kept a 15th league clean sheet in 24 league appearances.

The Amakhosi captain’s efforts hadn’t gone unnoticed by national team selectors. Bafana head coach Hugo Broos said the keeper was on his plans for the March international friendlies against Panama before he had to be hospitalised for a surgery on his appendix.

Competition in the department is looking tough with regulars Ronwen Williams and the record breaking Sipho Chaine looking likely to be included and the last spot usually occupied by Ricardo Goss who has done well for Siwelele the one to be fought for.

Meanwhile, even his coach at the club Khalil Ben Youssef has also openly said the 31-year-old deserves a spot in the World Cup bound Bafana side.

Asked if he has hope he will be part of the travelling party to America, Petersen said he’ll control what he can.

“I think, for me, you know, the hope is always there,” said Petersen on SuperSport TV.

“But at the end of the day, God is in control. We can only control what we can, and that’s performing week in, week out.

“That’s the only thing I’m in control of. So, the rest, I leave it in God’s hands, and let’s see what happens.”

Chiefs close their campaign at the Moses Mabhida Stadium against Chippa United next Saturday.
