Tshegofatso Mabasa looks set for a new move ahead of the 2026/27 season with his contract at Orlando Pirates coming to an end.
Mabasa, 29, spent the second half of the season on loan at Stellenbosch – where their remains interest for a permanent arrangement under head coach Gavin Hunt.
While it’s unlikely, due the growing interest in the country, North Africa and the Gulf, it’s a sudden end to the spell of the striker, who is just eight goals shy of the Pirates all-time scorer’s record.
iDiski Times have been informed, as things stand, no offers were tabled to Mabasa to extend his contract, due to expire at the end of June.
With 74 goals and 11 assists in 249 games across all competitions, Mabasa has been among the most prolific strikers in South African football since bursting onto the scene with the now-defunct Bloemfontein Celtic.
Pirates lured him to Gauteng back in 2019, and while he was notably a regular goalscorer, spent three separate spells on loan, at Sekhukhune United, Moroka Swallows and Stellenbosch.
Sources have indicated there’s been calls from AmaZulu, Kaizer Chiefs, Mas Fes in the Botola Pro – who nearly signed the striker last season, while enquiries from the Saudi Arabia, Qatar and two clubs from Libya.
