Hugo Broos has warned that Bafana Bafana face a very different but equally demanding test when they take on South Korea in their final Group A game, with a place in the second round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on the line.

Having navigated the physicality of Czechia in their second fixture, Broos believes South Korea will pose an entirely different set of problems and was keen to highlight the qualities that make the Asian side such a tricky opponent.

South Africa has one point now after the 1-1 draw in Atlanta against the European nation to offer a fighting chance going into the final group game – having lost the World Cup opener against co-hosts Mexico last week.

“It’s a little bit different between Mexico and Czechia, a very disciplined team, a characteristic of Eastern teams, they are very disciplined with some key players,” Broos said.

“It will be a tough game, again, but in a different way. It was physical, against South Korea, they run a lot. They are like Duracell batteries, you plug them in and they run all game for 90 minutes. It won’t be easy.”

With Teboho Mokoena suspended and South Korea’s tireless pressing game on the horizon, Broos knows his tactical acumen will be tested once again – having fielded a 4-3-3 in their second clash in North America.
