Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed Dillon Sheppard will be Fernando da Cruz’ second assistant alongside Mahmoud Abbas.
Last week, Amakhosi officially announced Frenchman Da Cruz as the club’s new head coach.
He will join the club in the coming weeks, while pre-season has started with new assistant coach Mahmoud Abbas, who previously worked at Saudi First Division Al Wehda.
Meanwhile, Chiefs has also confirmed Julien Le Heran as the club’s new head of sport science. On Monday, they now announced that Sheppard will become part of Da Cruz’s technical team.
“Coach Sheppard will officially take on the role of second assistant coach, working alongside Coach Fernando da Cruz and Assistant Coach Mahmoud Abbas,” the club stated.
“He will [also] continue to serve as the vital link between the reserve side, where he collaborates with Coach Vela Khumalo, and the senior team.
“Sheppard did similar work with the previous technical team, helping Amakhosi to finish third in the Betway Premiership last season.”
‘New CAF A Licence For Sheppard’
Amakhosi also confirmed that Sheppard successfully obtained his CAF A Licence in Tanzania.
“We fully support the education and development of our coaches,” Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr commented.
“Having Coach Sheppy qualified to work at the highest level in Africa with his CAF A Licence, as well as in Europe with his UEFA A Licence, means our players – both in the Kaizer Chiefs Youth Development Academy and the senior team – will benefit greatly. We are proud and happy for him.”
