Former Golden Arrows head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has landed a new job ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Mngqithi parted ways with Abafana Bes’thende at the end of the previous campaign after spending just over a season in charge of the Durban-based club.
Under his guidance, Golden Arrows played an attractive brand of football and finished sixth in the Betway Premiership, securing qualification for the MTN8.
Mngqithi has now been appointed head coach of Tanzanian giants Young Africans, where he replaces Pedro Gonçalves following the Portuguese coach’s departure at the end of the 2025/26 season.
Following Gonçalves’ exit, AbdulHamid Maalin took charge on an interim basis and guided Young Africans to the Tanzanian Premier League title before the club confirmed Mngqithi as their new permanent head coach.
The appointment marks Mngqithi’s return to continental football, with the experienced South African tactician set to lead one of East Africa’s biggest clubs in domestic competitions and the CAF Champions League.
“Welcome to Young Africans SC, Head Coach Manqoba Mngqithi,” the club announced via social media.
