Orlando Pirates youngster Cemran Dansin has spoken about the honour of captaining the youthful side that secured a victory over Las Palmas in a friendly encounter.

Substitute Boitumelo Radiopane emerged as the match-winner, netting a late goal after coming off the bench to hand the Buccaneers victory.

It was Pirates’ fourth pre-season fixture, leaving them with a record of two victories, one draw and one loss so far in their pre-season camp in Spain.

Dansin believes his side outplayed the Spanish outfit and felt they should have wrapped up the contest much earlier.

“It was nice, we started a bit slow, got into the game including the new players who still need to gel,” said Dansin, as per Mike Morton.

“So, we got comfortable as the game went on. Towards the end of first half, we started understanding [each other], creating chances and getting into the game.

“I think we could have killed the game in the first half, looking at the chances we created. I feel like we had more chances than opponents, so we deserved a win.”

Reflecting on captaining the side, Dansin said the club entrusted him with the responsibility, and he was determined to make the most of the opportunity by showcasing the leadership qualities he has developed while learning from the team’s senior leaders.

“Obviously, Pirates believe in giving young players opportunities, when you’re given one, you should always do your best,” he added.

“There are many leaders in the team, and we learn from them, try and grow and better every time.”
