Durban City have agreed terms with one of their long-term targets Alou Doumbia from Mali giants Djoliba.

Doumbia, 23, has been on the radar of the club for over 12 months, having impressed on the continent and win the league in Mali.

However, it appears the recent deal of Terrence Mashego moving to Stellenbosch FC has now accelerated their pursuit of the highly-rated full-back, sources with the club confirmed.

IDiski Times reached out to the players’ representative Faustino Mukandila who confirmed Doumbia is in the process of securing his visa and work permit ahead of his arrival in the country before a routine medical check.

The 23-year-old is expected to form a key part of new head coach Khalil Ben Youssef’s plans as they reshape the squad for continental football demands.

The move adds further depth to City’s reshaped squad after the exits of nine players and the permanent capture of midfielder Kyle Jurgens from Stellenbosch FC. In addition, Tashreeq Morris and Bandile Shandu have been signed and unveiled, while Gaston Sirino’s move is yet to be announced officially.

Winger Gomolemo Khoto and Seth Green have also been acquired – both from Orlando Pirates.
