South African tactician Rulani Mokwena masterminded Pyramids FC to two wins during their pre-season camp of Turkey ahead of the 2026/27 Egyptian Premier League.

The 39-year-old joined the 2024/25 CAF Champions League winners in July after being at the helm of Libyan outfit Al Ittihad SC barely just four months after joining the side.

Last week Wednesday, Pyramids beat Turkish Süper Lig outfit Alanyaspor 2-0 courtesy of strikes from Mahmoud Zalaka in the 15th minute and Ahmed Atef who netted the winner in the 71st minute.

Yesterday afternoon, Pyramids were in rampant mood as they thumped Kuwaiti Arab Club 3-1 in their second pre-season match.

The Egyptian giants were first to break the deadlock via Abdulrahman Majdi before Ahmed Atef doubled the score.

Pharaohs national team star player Mostafa Zico, who scored against Argentina in their Last 16 heartbreaking 3-2 defeat at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, added the third goal for Pyramids as they continue with preparations for the new campaign.

Since his departure from Mamelodi Sundowns, Mokoena has had three short coaching stints. He joined Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club before his move to Alger and then Ittihad.

Pyramids finished second in the Egyptian league in 2025/26 behind Zamalek SC which sees them in the CAF Champions League this coming campaign while regulars Al Ahly miss out after a disastrous season finishing in third.
