Mamelodi Sundowns and Polokwane City have confirmed their starting line-ups for their MTN8 quarter-final clash at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Sundowns will kick-start their 2026/27 season this evening after requesting their opening Betway Premiership clash against Marumo Gallants to be postponed.
Masandawana last won this cup back in 2021 when they defeated Cape Town City 3-2 on penalties, but since Orlando Pirates have been dominating it.
In the last four seasons, Sundowns have reached the semi-final on all those occasions but only reached the final in 2023 when they suffered a loss to Pirates on penalties.
Polokwane City are making their third appearance in a row but they are yet to make it to the semi-final after being knocked out by Pirates 2-0 last season, while a season before they were eliminated by Sundowns by 1-0 at the very same Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Rise and Shine won their opening league match last week, beating Richards Bay 2-1 away from home, and they will hope to take the momentum into tonight’s clash.
These two sides faced each other twice last season and Sundowns won both games by 1-0 and 3-0.
