Cardoso – It’s Just Half-time

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso says it’s just half-time of their MTN8 semi-final but the team will give a good answer to their 1-0 defeat against Golden Arrows.

Sundowns suffered their first defeat this season, going down to Arrows via Junior Dion’s first half goal and a much-changed side struggled to break down to the visitors.

But Cardoso feels there’s not much to be concerned about as there’s an opportunity to rectify what went wrong on Sunday afternoon at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium.

“It’s a result that’s half of the match, we could have built a more comfortable situation but it’s just half of the job and time played,” he said in the post-match press conference.

“We started well until the moment the keeper had to be substituted, Arrows tried to close everything, we knew where the spaces would be created.

“Those seven minutes to change the player broke the focus and energy, it shouldn’t happen, we made mistakes for the goal.

“We lost the ball and were unbalanced in defence, it brought instability, at half-time the talk, they had one shot, one goal, football is like that…”

The CAF Champions League winning coach feels there was elements of not having luck, as they had 22 shots, with six on target to the one Arrows had on target and scored.

“I think there was misfortune, not the best result,” he continued: “But it’s half-way let’s see what we can bring next week but we have a mid-week match to think about now.”

Sundowns will now host AmaZulu in mid-week before their second leg semi-final at the King Zweltihini Stadium next weekend.
