Polish side Górnik Zabrze are preparing a new offer for Cape Town City teenage sensation Emile Witbooi after their first one was rejected.
Zabrze submitted a bid worth €800 000 (R15 million for Witbooi two weeks ago, but Cape Town City rejected it and made it clear they want €1 million (R20 million) for the kid sensation.
Exclusive information received by this publication is that Zabrze – who are owned by former Germany World Cup winner Lukas Podolski -are preparing a new offer before their transfer window closes on 9 September.
Witbooi featured for Cape Town City in their 2-1 loss against Real Native FC away from home.
The 17-year-old was named Motsepe Foundation Championship Player of the Season in 2025/26 after helping the Citizens reach the playoffs where they ultimately fell short of promotion.
At this stage, a local move seems unlikely for the wonderkid, as all teams that enquired before didn’t come back with concrete offers due to City’s asking price.
It remains to be seen how Citizens react to the new offer that will be tabled by Zabrze.
